hide back label

Hello,

I can’t hide the back of a label. On a glass, the label is doubled on the glass and we can see the back of the label which is reflected… I have version 10 of keyshot, how to do it because I don’t have the ray mask option in the latest version.

label with back en black like this

Thanks so much

You can enable ray mask with little edit of the config file - it was present as a hidden beta-feature.

How do you have the label applied? If you are using Planar projection, you can use the depth slider to adjust the depth the label goes.

Otherwise, you can use the Occlusion Texture tied to the Opacity of the label node to make it so the double doesn’t appear and you won’t see it from the back.

If I’m right the ray mask node passed the test and is now visible for all, at the bottom of the node utilities if I’m correct.

yes, just not sure if it happens during the version 10 lifecycle or later…

With experimental features activated you can use ray mask like in the latest release, but only in CPU mode.
That feature works since KeyShot 6!
Planar projection doesn’t work at cylinders.
Cylindrical mapping does not use a depth value.
So, ray mask is a good solution.

Hope that helps

Hello,
I can’t findhow to do that… that would be the solution, do you know how to do it, I’m a beginner on the software. Thanks!!!

You need to locate your Settings file, mine is here-

C:\Users\Public\Documents\KeyShot 12\KS12Settings.xml

might be iun your users folder depending on if you installed just for you or for everyone. Copy it to your desktop, open the one in the location where you found it and search for the term “Experimental Features” and change “False” to “true”. save and restart Keyshot. The ray mask node should now appear int he Mat Graph.

You can also use the UV unwrap.

How did you get the label to show up and cast a shadow? Surprisingly I can’t seem to find any information on it, or maybe I’m not looking in the right place.

It depends on the material and settings. The scene from the screenshot was using the “Glass” Material. If you’re using a Solid Glass or another transparent material adjust the transparency distance and enable caustics.

That is correct, Ray Mask was integrated and is now at the bottom of the utilities flyout.
